Cooking Classes
Winter cooking classes are being offered here in Milwaukie! The talented cooks behind Casa de Tamales' delicious entrees will be instructing cooking classes. The first class demonstrates how to make delicious traditional tamales from scratch using fresh masa. Our students will learn all of the techniques behind our scrumptious house made tamales as we leave no secret unrevealed in this in-depth 3-4 hour course. The class meets when filled with a minimum of 10 students, and a mere $125 will get you a seat at this special event and a dozen fresh made tamales to take home with you. This class will be held at Canby Asparagus Farm's Casa de Tamales in Milwaukie (10605 S Main St.) With twenty years experience making and peddling tamales from scratch using all natural, local ingredients; we have plenty of helpful tidbits to share. Canby Asparagus Farm's Casa De Tamales incorporates authentic and fresh ingredients to make outstanding tamales, mole, and chili rellenos. Featuring hand made tortillas and homemade salsa, Casa de Tamales is the closest place in Portland to Old Mexico.
Tamales being our specialty, we will custom make any kind of tamale not on our extensive menu. You can also enjoy Casa De Tamales' high caliber food away from the restaurant, as we provide catering service and we deliver bulk tamale orders to most metropolian areas in the Portland area. Our tasty ingredients are grown locally at Canby Asparagus Farm or Winters Farm in Corbett. Because we prefer the all natural method of food preparation, all of our dishes and ingredients are made with no MSG and no preservatives. Most of our dishes are gluten free, and any dish can be made gluten free upon request. Many of our menu items (except for our delicious tamales!) are made using peanut oil. For an additional charge, any of our tamales can be prepared using only organic ingredients.
